Are you in favor of Population Control?

Population control is the most debatable topic today. Based on my research it is the practice of artificially altering the rate of growth of a human population. If you haven't known yet, the Philippines currently rank the 12th country having the biggest population around the world. According to National Statistics Office statistics, Philippines have 97.6 million total populations at 2012. We can all see the big difference of our population from the past. Each year it is getting bigger and bigger. That’s the reason why we should implement population control.

Every year the population increases over the world and the main problem is poverty because the more population the world has, hungry people increases. Parents are unable to send their children to school; newly graduates cannot find jobs because of increasing numbers of graduating students each year.  Overpopulation also directly or indirectly add a range of problems affecting the earth like pollution and global warming, also the scarcity of living space and disruption of ecological balance of earth. How can we live a healthy life that we wanted if there is no food to eat, space for us to live, career, etc.? Life is very challenging so we must make a move to make it better.

Am I in favor of population control? Yes I am. As a woman it is my responsibility to take care of my well-being and my body. I should have self-discipline and I believe that all of us should also have that. Husbands and wives should decide which family planning method to use to control reproduction. Family planning help reduces the number of unplanned pregnancies and abortions among women, and allows women the opportunity to choose when the time is right to have a child. Family planning gives women the option to wait until they are financially able to care for a child, and gives them time to pursue educational and employment goals without worrying about the financial burden of an unplanned pregnancy.  Family planning is a one way method of controlling the population. It is very important for the health of the mother and her children.

There are government agencies that educate and help parents choose their method of family planning .  Since parents are responsible for providing their children of their basic needs like education, shelter, clothing and food, it is right and able that they must learn how to control the population.

We should all know that population control is a big help in making our country a productive and successful one. All of us will benefit from it, it is for our own good. We should have self-discipline and put in our minds that God values children and we should too. Parents should be responsible enough with their children. We all must be careful stewards of our resources, we should definitely not use the excuse of overpopulation to implement abortion, or other immoral and dangerous means of birth control. Population control in a good way to make a better future.

"The Real World"

What is Information Technology?  When I hear the word Information Technology, the things that comes to my mind are computers, latest gadgets and other new invented technologies. And based on what I've research on the internet, Information Technology is the branch of engineering that deals with the use of computers and telecommunications to retrieve and store and transmit information.

In my generation, we can see that our world really changed a lot because of the advanced technologies.  In doing my homework, there's a computer that I can rely to, if we want to send someone a message we don't need to write a letter in a piece of paper instead we can just send it through email, if we want to talk to someone immediately, we can just simply call by using our cellphones, we don't have to meet the person we want to talk to. Time is very important to us. Time is gold that's what they say. And  by having those technologies in our world we can  easily manage our time because it makes our work  faster. That's how technology makes our life easier.

There are many advantages that Information Technology provides us. First is the communication, we all know that the most widely used forms in communicating is via email. It is the most effective communication nowadays. Because it helps us in seeking job, in offices or in big companies. Second, is the improvement of the quality of health care. The advancement of technology helped the field of medicine to improve. With the help of technology, there are now new discoveries in the medicine field like Anesthesia, Open Heart Surgery, Organ Transplant, Medical Imagery(x-rays, RI) , Ambulance services and many more.  Third is the technology in business, like the computers and systems that the employees really need so that they can perform their work faster and more efficient. People can also now do internet shopping and have it delivered to their homes. Lastly, it really helped students in their school works. As a student, I know that reading books is still important to improve your reading skills. But by the help of technologies I don't need to spend too much time searching in the library instead I'll just used the internet to do research. I can say that it really helps me a lot in managing my time and we all improved because of the advantages of the information technology. We can really see how Information Technology changed the practices in the past.

What do people think if there's no information technology? Can we imagine our life without it? Computers, cellphones, I pad , television, medical technology, etc. We might think that we can't improve without those technologies. It's because we are now too much dependable on those new technologies we have. Yes, there are some disadvantages of having those new invented technologies. It invades our privacy because of the hackers of the web sites. It also makes us lazy, and it can also damage our health because of radiation. And we can also have diseases like obesity and it's because of our laziness. Yes, that's a fact, we have now the real world ,  we can now see how dangerous it is if we didn't use those technologies in a right manner.

I can feel that people nowadays are becoming too dependent on computers or in the new technologies. We can see computer, lap tops, cellphones, etc. everywhere. Internet allows us to research for our homework, read books, articles, watch movies online, chat with friends and any other things. But what happened to the old practices, to the old school ways? Books fade out and instead of using pen and paper, we tend to type on the keyboard. Most of us can't explain well, can't spell correctly, we're too lazy to do some other stuffs.

Technology is not bad, itself. We, human beings are the one who are abusing and misusing it. We should still not forget the practices we have learned from the past. We should not depend too much on the technologies.

"Why Do We Have Fear?"

Topic: Fears I used to have

Fear can be a good or a bad thing. It is a serious emotion. It can be helpful for assisting us in surviving, or be used to drive someone mad. I'm sure it’s fun to get scared sometimes, say at a haunted house, but think about it. What if it was real and there was no safe way out? Then how would you feel. Why do we have fear? It's just like asking , Why do we breathe air?. It is human nature to be fearful.  Yes, I believe we all have fears.

In my life I have been afraid of many things. My first fear is to lose someone I love. To be specific, I'm afraid to lose my Mom. She's my best friend, lover, stage mom. She's my everything. I'm really attached to her and sometimes I think I can't live without her. I don't know but I'm not comfortable when she's not around. I always wanted her to be by my side. I'm very lucky to have a mother like her.  I don't know how to overcome this fear. But I think it's just normal.  My second fear is, I'm really afraid of cockroaches. When I see a cockroach, my heart beats fast and I really can't kill the cockroach. When I see cockroach in our bathroom, I will not take a bath unless my mom already killed the cockroach. It may sound absurd but that's a fact. It's really disgusting, especially the flying cockroaches. They feel like they have super powers and they're flying all around. I really hate cockroaches. I think I can overcome this fear by letting myself kill the cockroach.  My third fear is, I’m afraid of broken promises. I'm a kind of girl that will trust and believe you easily if you're serious. But it all changed now, because someone broke his promise to me. I'm afraid to give my trust to someone. It's difficult for me to believe someone easily. I don't want promises now. And lastly, I'm afraid to die. All of us are afraid to die. Life is so wonderful. God really gave us a precious gift, and it's our life.  I don't want to leave my love ones. But all of us will die someday. That's a fact that we should really accept. We should now live our life to the fullest so that there will be no regrets. Let's spend our time in a productive way. We should treasure every moment of our lives.

As time goes by, I know I can overcome those fears I have. I just need to face my fears and be mature enough. I should change the way I think or change the way I act. I should be a positive thinker. I think that will help me a lot and it can help us a lot to overcome our fears.  Sometimes fear stops success. For us to be successful in our lives, all I can say is we should take every chance and drop every fear.

"If you want to know how much I love you , Count the Waves"

Describe a day at the beach.

The beach is one of the most peaceful place I know. I really love the beach because it's relaxing and fun. I love the feeling of freedom and peace. When we went to Boracay, we only stayed there for two days but it was worth it. I'm mesmerized by the simple beauty of the paradise. I was very excited that day. I was very happy to be there, to see the beauty of the place, to feel the heat of the sun, to breathe the fresh air and to be able to touch the sand.

I love the natural ambiance in Boracay. The white sand, trees, fresh water and the soothing sounds of waves. It's very different to the place where I live. Many people love to go to the places like Boracay. We all have different reasons why we love to go to the beach. But I think the first main reason is to enjoy, to have fun with your family or friends. Second, is to forget all your problems or to let go of the daily stress in life.People can also do water sports like swimming, surfing, boating, fishing , etc.  Lastly,  if you're a nature lover, if you love to watch the sunrise and sunset.

If I had given a chance to choose where to live, I want to live near the beach. I will just go to the beach if i want to relax. If i have problems or if i want to be alone there's always a place for me to go. By just watching the waves and the sunset can make me calm. Beach is like my best friend that I can always count on.

"Education Can Change our Lives Forever"

Topic: Education is the single most important factor in the development of a country

Education is something that can never be taken away from us. It is a precious tool in life or should I say that it is the key to become successful in life. It cannot be measured by money, material things and any other things that we think  can help us to become successful.  I strongly agree that education is the single most important in the development of a country. Why? It's because if a person is educated, he can be a big help in alleviating the poverty and other problems in our country. It is very important to be educated.

Yes, I believe that education can really change our lives forever. It can affect one's future and can also develop our country in many ways. How can we live a happy and successful life if we don't have permanent jobs?  If we will study hard and we're educated enough, we can have a decent job.  Nowadays, as we can see the people needed in the industry or the people they hire are those who have finished their college degree.  Without education people wouldn't have their unique skills and talents that would help them to become successful in their careers, family and in decision-making.

As a student , I can say that education plays a vital role in my life. It serves as a milestone or my stepping stone in achieving my dreams. But i'm still wondering why other students thinks education is just a game. What I mean is , for them , it's just simply going to school sitting on their chairs, sleeping on their desks, not listening to what their teacher is trying to teach them. With the attitude "bahala na " , and being tardy or lazy.   Yes, I've observed them as I go to my journey of life. Of course it's normal for a student like me to be lazy sometimes but as I grew up I've tried to change that.

Almost everything in our world are the effects of education. How can the doctors treat their patients ? How can the Pilots fly a plane? How can the engineers plan to build houses and buildings carefully?. It's all because of education. Many job seekers today are rejected of having jobs because of the lack of educational background although they have work experiences. Let's all face the truth that our country lies in its educational system. So we should give importance to education. There are children who can't go to school to study because of financial problems. So for those who are very lucky , that who can study and can enroll in a private school, should be thankful enough. We should study hard. We should value our parents' efforts. We should not waste the money they earn just to pay for our fees and expenses in school.  Let us all remember that in education we can achieve our dreams and goals in life. We, youth are the future makers and we will help our country to be successful.

"Woman In Love"

I have this thought that keeps spinning inside my head; Life is full of absurdities, it is inescapable and inevitable. Whenever we get wrong, we learn. Whenever we learn, we ought to have the application to our lives and from there we GROW.

As a woman, one of the most painful suffering that a woman like me could have is a heartbreak. I cannot speak for myself, it's just that when a woman has a heartache, her whole world suddenly stops. She may have friends to uplift her spirit but the pain doesn't go away that easily. Women are very fragile and sensitive which most men do not understand. And as I go through the journey of my life this is what I learned: You cannot please everybody. They will leave if they have to leave. You cannot own a person just because you love them so much. That's the absurd truth about life. We have to accept everything that might hurt us because that's the nature of living. If you go against that will, you'll end up suffering and enduring the scars that this life brought you. Remember, wounds heal but scars don't. They will remind you of people who and situations when do they deserve your love, trust and loyalty.

Being a man is hard but being a woman is harder. Take the challenge: Bear a child, sacrifice your youth and happiness for your family, sacrifice for the man you love, understand the needs and wants of your parents, give up those chocolates for your siblings. Tough eh? God is just really great for making us women stronger enough to surpass all these challenges. Our moral obligation in life is to help other people, of you can't help, well at least do not hurt them. That goes to us women who have been always a victim of love. Even if we are hurt for a million times because of love, we don't stop loving--another hurtful truth. You can take the fact that a typical woman hopes for a happy ever after with her prince charming in a castle. This mindset of a woman was developed because of too much love story with happy endings. But real life doesn't have happy endings. It is filled with triumphs and failures that will blend and balance your way of dealing with life. It is you who will write your story, it is you who will decide for yourself. You might hear unpleasant or fine-sounding words from them but at the end of the day it is you who will choose to where you are going.
Live, Love and Laugh. That's how a true and a vulnerable woman should do it. ;)

The Book that Changed My life

Tuesdays with Morrie is a 1997 non-fiction novel by American writer Mitch Albom. The book topped the New York Times Non-Fiction Bestsellers of 2000. This book has an elegant story about a writer getting a second chance to know the true meaning of  life through the death of a friend. Have you experienced having a teacher who fills your emptiness, gives advice and is a companion?

It was experienced by a former student, Mitch Albom and for him, that teacher is his professor, Morrie Schwartz.  Mitch Albom had a second chance to gain wisdom from his college professor. He visited Morrie every Tuesday, like they used to, after knowing that he is about to die because of an illness. Morrie taught him “The Meaning of Life”. As I turn the pages of the book, the story becomes more interesting. I have realized that experience is the best teacher. Others consider death as a fearsome event in our lives. For Morrie, there is more to  death. He accepted it. I am amazed by this man. I feel inspired, relieved, blessed
and happy. Most of the time, we tend to do so many things that it comes to a point that we forget the important things in life. Life is not all about money or having power or authority over others. I learned how to serve the people around me. It made me realize how precious life is.

The best line that struck me is “Don’t cling to things, because everything is impermanent.”  Morrie is right, we are easily blinded by the material things we see around us.We think if we have the latest gadgets, expensive clothes, jewelries and a big house we will be completely happy. I've realize that material things don’t guarantee us true happiness. The story of Mitch Albom and Morrie Schwartz gives hope to every person who reads it. It’s a brilliant story and it changed my life in a simple way.

"Yesterday is Different From Today"

There's a cute little girl who always begs her mom to bring her something or a present after her mom's work. She is always waiting her mom to arrive and sometimes she even falls asleep in the couch. Their family always goes out every Sunday to praise God and after that, they went out to have a family bonding.  That's why she is a very happy child. That little girl is me, Harriet.

Looking back on my childhood days filled with lots of wonderful and unforgettable memories makes me smile.I find it happy to reminisce all of those memories. I can still remember those arguments I had with my brother and sometimes with my older sister. I find it funny, because I can still remember how naughty I was. I'm a stubborn child that's why my mom always scolded me. As I've grown up I've learned my mistakes and changed my attitude. And I think it's because of the discipline and good values that my mom had taught me.

Yesterday is different from today and we can never go back to the past. Sometimes I wish I was a kid again. A kid who doesn't care about her clothes , her weight, or hair . I just did what made me happy. But now I can't just do what I want, there are certain things that I should consider. What I mean is now that I'm already a teenager, I should not only think about my own feelings or myself. I should be responsible for all my actions and  learn to be an independent individual.
